How to export data from Placemaker

Export charts and tables as CSV or image from the Insights page in Placemaker. Use exported data in reports and presentations with attribution included automatically.

Use this guide to export charts, tables and data from the Insights page in Placemaker.

Before You Begin

You must have an Insights page visible for a catchment. If you haven't yet built a catchment, see How to create a catchment in Placemaker.

Steps

  1. Open the Insights page: Open your catchment and navigate to the Insights page.

     

  2. Find the component you want to export: The Insights page displays data as charts, tables and maps.

  3. Click the Export button in the top right corner of the chart or table you want to export.

  4. Choose a format based on the component type:

    Chart

    • Copy as image: copies a PNG of the chart to your clipboard. Paste it (Ctrl+V) into another application such as Teams or PowerPoint. The copied image includes the chart title, legend, data and source attribution.
    • Download as CSV: downloads the underlying data for the chart.

    Table

    • Download as CSV: downloads the data shown in the table. Copy as image is not available for tables.

    Map

    • Export is not yet available for map components. To capture a map view, take a screenshot of your browser window.

Note: All exports include .id source attribution. Do not remove .id branding from exported images.

What to Expect

CSV files download to your browser's default download location. Copied chart images are available in your clipboard immediately.

Troubleshooting

  • The export option is not visible: Make sure you have an active catchment open and are on the Insights page.
  • You can't find the downloaded file: Check your browser's default download location.
  • You want to save the full Insights page as a PDF: Placemaker doesn't have a built-in print-to-PDF option. You can install a browser extension such as Awesome Screenshot to capture a scrolling page.
