How access to restricted features works
Subscriber-only features in the .id Local Government Suite
This article explains how access to subscriber-only features works on the .id (Informed Decisions) Local Government Suite. Some features are available only to users at organisations that subscribe to that product. This article explains what those features are, who can use them, and how to know whether your organisation has access.
Key concepts
What subscriber-only features are
Some features in the .id Local Government Suite are visible only to users at organisations that subscribe to that product, such as Council staff. Other users can see the public-facing features but not the subscriber-only ones.
Examples of restricted features
- Population Forecast Data Exporter – an extraction tool for forecast data.
- Economic Profile impact calculators – tools for modelling the economic impact of projects or events.
How this applies in .id tools
When you log in to an .id tool using your work account, you'll see the features available to your organisation. If your organisation subscribes to that product, you'll see all the features included in the subscription. If not, you'll see the public-facing features only.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know I have subscriber access?
If you can see subscriber-only features when logged in, your organisation has access. If you're unsure, or you think your organisation should have access but you don't see the features, try the following.
-
Check that you are logged in with your work account. You need to be logged in using an account with the relevant organisation domain.
-
If you are logged in correctly but still can't see the expected features, contact us support@id.com.au.
Can a consultant working for my Council get access?
Yes, if necessary. See 'How consultants can access restricted features' for the request process and the details we need.
Why are some features restricted?
The Local Government Suite are paid for by Councils and partner organisations. While the majority of the suite is made publicly available, certain features are reserved for internal use only. These features tend to be powerful analytical tools that are not part of .id's public offer.
What if I work for a subscribing organisation but don't see the features?
Make sure you're logged in with your work account. If you still don't see the features, contact .id support at support@id.com.au.
Is the public version of .id tools still useful without subscriber access?
Yes. The public-facing tools are designed to be valuable on their own and cover most community use cases.
