Understanding your data access in Placemaker
Understand how your organisation's data entitlement sets which datasets, geographic regions and granularity you can access in Placemaker.
Your data access in Placemaker is set by your organisation's data entitlement. The entitlement controls which datasets, geographic regions and level of geographic detail you see when you use the application.
Key Concepts
Data entitlement
A data entitlement is the set of data your organisation has subscribed to. Two organisations with different entitlements will see different data in Placemaker, even when looking at the same location.
What your entitlement covers
Your entitlement sets three things:
- Datasets — the data products your organisation subscribes to, such as the datasets from the National Forecasting Program.
- Geographic region — the states, LGAs or other areas your organisation has subscribed to.
- Granularity — the level of geographic detail available to your organisation, for example SA1 or SA2.
How This Applies in Placemaker
What you see in Placemaker is filtered by your entitlement. Datasets, regions or geographic levels outside your entitlement will not appear in the application.

Q: How do I change what my organisation can access?
A: Contact your .id account manager to discuss adding datasets, expanding the geographic region or changing granularity.
