How to go to a location in Placemaker

There are two ways to navigate to a specific location in Placemaker: exploring the map freely, or searching for an address.

Steps

Option A: Explore the map

From the home screen: Click Explore map.
The map opens showing Australia at a broad zoom level.
Use the + and − zoom controls (top left of the map), or scroll to zoom in and out.
Click and drag to pan the map to your area of interest.
Click the current location button (crosshairs icon) to centre the map on your browser location.

Option B: Search for an address

From the home screen, click Create catchment or Explore map to open the map.
In the search bar in the map header, type an address, suburb or place name.
Select a result or press Enter. The map zooms to that location and the Create a catchment panel opens.
If you only wanted to navigate to the area, collapse or close the panel to keep exploring the map.

What to Expect

The map will navigate to your selected location. You can then apply boundary views and data themes via the Layers panel, or proceed to create a catchment.

Troubleshooting

Address not appearing in results: Try a nearby suburb name or postcode.
Map not moving after selecting a result: Refresh the page and try again.
